Hello,

I’m Fran Baxter-Hunter, the artist and designer behind Hunter Gatherings.

Based between Bristol and Bath, I specialise in creating

fine art, nature inspired wedding stationery and hosting creative craft workshops.

The name of my studio comes from two things close to my heart: "Hunter" is a nod to my family surname, and "Gatherings" represents my absolute passion for bringing people together to celebrate life's most beautiful moments.

A few things about me:

I love being creative.
I love my cat.
I love a good cuppa.
I love calligraphy.
I love to paint (I tried to think of another 'C' word!).

Something I get asked all the time…

How far in advance do I need everything?

Short answer - the more time the better!

Long answer - it will vary per couple and your needs. However, the earlier you get in touch and get booked into my design diary the better. I allow for a certain number of jobs per month to make sure I can create the best stationery possible and meet everyone’s needs.

Then I have built a couples journey with me, that sends out the right forms at the right times based on your orders and we work back from the wedding date.

There’s a lot more than you think when it comes to stationery. So much information to think about, design, materials, timings, changes and edits to allow for.
I think about all of these things, so you don’t have to and I help you gather what you need at each stage.

So if you’re getting married this summer, do get in touch. I have some spaces for June and July, August is very nearly full, September onwards has availability!

When the couple want to incorporate horse racing and jockey silks into their wedding stationery on the weekend of Cheltenham Races.

Each table was named after a different horse, with watercolour painted jockey silks and then the guests place name cards also had a matching jockey silk on.

From concept to execution 🌸

I have wanted to create flower shaped place cards for a little while, so the @milton_end_barns spring open day was the perfect occasion.

Dusty pink poppy head painted in watercolour originally, scanned in, printed and cut out, before adding hand calligraphy names in hot pink. Attaching these to gorgeous spring menus and creating the other wedding stationery pieces to dress the other spaces and tables too!

Bespoke wedding stationery - the process, weeks worth of work summarised in a few seconds.

It starts with a consultation and proposal, then onto a moodboard and initial sketches, then the magic happens where I draw, paint and create your artwork for your wedding invites. Once these have been scanned, edited and cleaned up, the next stage is to produce all of the formatting, layouts, font choices or hand lettering, proofs and lots of edits and checks. Before the final processes of printing, assembling, checking and packaging happen ready for you to collect or have your wedding invitations posted to you.

Watercolour painting is soft peaches, greens and neutrals. One of my favourites!

It starts with a sketch, then I build up the layers of paint and then scan and tweak in software ahead of adding into your designs.

House collections designs ~ I have uploaded a selection of new wedding stationery designs to my website.

These are designs that already exist and you can tweak them to suit you and your wedding by changing the font colour, adding a venue or pet illustration, add finishing touches such as ribbon, wax seals, envelopes, liners. As well as changing the wording to say what you need it to say.

How many invites do we need?

This is my most common question.
The answer is around 60% of your guest count, as a lot of your guests will be in couples or from the same family, so you only need one per household, NOT per guest.

I’d always add on a few extras for those just in case moments, incase of spelling mistakes when writing names and envelopes, as well as any which may get lost in the post.

Oh and don’t forgot evening guest invites, these don’t have to be exactly the same as your day guest invites, as they may not need quite so much information, but they’ll love to receive an invite, just as much as your day guests will.
